Cycle Loft Pro Kacey Manderfield Races in Europe

Cycle Loft pro Kacey Manderfield left last week for a two week trip to Europe which will include races in Milan, Italy, and in Amsterdam, Holland.

Manderfield who won the original “Red Hook Criterium” in New York, two years ago, was invited to the first “Red Hook – Milan” on Friday night. Both “Red Hook” crits are downtown style crits raced on pure track bikes with no brakes.

Friday Night, midnight, saw 65 Elite Track Cyclist line up in down town Milan for a very fast criterium. Manderfield, was the only female rider in the race, and managed to narrowly miss the podium finishing 4th in the tight sprint finish.

“The event was fantastic, and so well organized,” said Kacey. “I’ve been recovering from a cold I got at Nationals, so to finish well here, gives me some hope for Amsterdam”, she said. You can see event coverage on the Red Hook site.

Tonight begins the start of the Winter Six Day Track Season, with the Six Days of Amsterdam running from the 18th to the 23rd. Cycle Loft’s Coach and Manderfield's personal manager, Kurt Begemann, will join her today for what hopes to be a good week of racing. “This is Kacey’s second pro Six Day,’ said Begemann. “She raced in Rotterdam in January where she finished a respectable 6th. Bettering that will be the goal here.” He said.

Manderfield will be representing Cycle Loft and The Northeast Velodrome and Cycling Park during the Six, where she will be racing in a specially designed jersey for the event.
